The best warm weather work-outs are those near the Ocean. I've run at the following beaches: Santa Monica, Cancun, Maui, Turks, Negril, Tahiti, and Myrtle Beach. All of my visits to these incredible beaches, were during extremely warm or humid weather. Distance runners must train year round, in all types of climatic conditions. At the gym the a/c is on, so outdoors the next best thing is the sea breeze.
You do not need to run on the sand, although running near the surf barefoot is refreshing. Most beaches have a walking path that joggers use. The close proximity of the Ocean is enough to keep your comfort zone nice. For repetition speed work, switch to the firm compacted sand, using your sneakers. Upon completion of your work-out, a cool dip is more than refreshing, it's like C.P.R. Enjoy!
