End-of-life communication: On saying goodbye

Saying goodbye

Each of us have experienced grief over a death that has touched our life's. I feel that in order to continue with our daily lives after experiencing a death, that we should think about it in a different way. I believe that through the memories of time spent together we can channel that grief into a positive and beautiful experience. No matter who died or how they died our lives have been touched by them and because of that we have been blessed. I don't want my loved ones to be consumed by grief when I die. I want them to be consumed by my life and the special times we lived together and allow that positive influence to think back at "us" and smile within their soul.

When I die, set me free
Let natures breezes take me
Remember me as I will remember you
When a snowflake lands upon your eyelash
When a raindrop touches your nose
When a cool breeze is blowing
Or the grass is tickling your toes

Remember me with laughter
And smiles in your heart
Remember me as I have loved you
And believe we are not apart
For I have loved you with all of me
My body and my heart

I'll always be with you
In all you say and do
Do not cry for me
I will always be within you
Just think of a day
Within our time and smile in your heart
That memory is always with you
Deep inside your heart

When a snowflake lands upon your eyelash
When a raindrop touches your nose
When a cool breeze is blowing
Or the grass is tickling your toes

Remember me with laughter
And smiles in your heart
Remember me as I have loved you
And believe we are not apart
For I have loved you with all of me
My body and my heart

Should you die before me
I will remember what I believe
When a snowflake lands upon my eyelash
Within my heart I will smile
I will believe it's you stopping by to visit for a while
When a raindrop touches my nose
Within my heart I will smile
I will believe it's you stopping by to visit for a while
When a cool breeze is blowing
I'll bend my head in prayer
For I loved you gently in life
And grown along the way
You touched me deeply with laughter and love
Many times you helped me through the day

We will always be together
So rest your mind tonight
That I have loved you in a special way
A blessing you have been
The life you lived was special
For us there is no end
