In 2005, the superhero montage of "The Fantastic Four" fantastically (and somewhat surprisingly) gained a worldwide gross total of $330,120,875.

Based on the Stan Lee comic book series, the movie was about a group of astronauts who gained superpowers after a cosmic radiation exposure. Reed Richards, inventor and leader of the gang becomes Mr. Fantastic, a being able to stretch far more than the average human. His girlfriend, Sue Storm, is named Invisible Woman because of her ability to create force fields and, well, turn invisible. Her younger brother Johnny Storm is called the Human Torch after he discovers his ability to control fire, including covering his own body in it. Pilot Ben Grimm is turned into an immense rock creature, calling himself Thing. To turn this would-be curse to their advantage, the band of heroes fight against the crimes of the evil Doctor Victor Von Doom who was also genetically altered by the blast.

After their success with this first installment, director Tom Story and writer Mark Frost combine their mediocre careers once again for the release of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer". In this episode, the Fantastic Four learn that they aren't the only super-powered beings in the universe when they meet their new foe, the Silver Surfer and the planet-eating Galactus. To make matters worse, Doctor Victor Von Doom is said to have returned for his revenge. How will our heroes fare this time?

Well, in the box office they didn't fare too bad, as aforementioned. Though the previews seemed hokey as the creators were riding the comic book movie craze, it did surprisingly well, in fact. However, the movie honestly wasn't that great. It was your typical superhero story, using the hot actress Jessica Alba as bait. I don't think that the sequel will do as well, but never underestimate salivating guys in large numbers.

My predictions concerning this movie closely resemble that of other superhero movies. The world needs a hero, and one (or in this case four) rises to the occasion. Using their abilities to fight crime and the injustices of the world, they come out on top at the very last second. Usually the hero gets the girl, but since Reed Richards already accomplished this in the last episode, my guess is that Johnny Storm will find and rescue his own true love. I mean, come on. What movie wouldn't be complete without some sort of love story? That is practically unheard of! The only question is, who will the lucky couple be?
