There are a lot of fun games that you can play with your children in the car. Car games are fun to play and are really nice because they pass away the time. You need something to pass away the time in the car because children get bored while sitting in the car for any length of time. I have a few ideas for you while you are traveling in the car with your children.

Play a game with license plates. Try to find a certain number of XYZ states. Or, count how many different license plates you can find in a certain amount of time. It gives the children something to look for, and it will make the time spent in the car go much quicker. Children are quite impatient at some times and you need to do this to keep your sanity.

Another game that you can play with your children is I Spy. It is a game where you say I Spy. (fill in the blank with something you see). Then your children have to find what you are looking at. Another version of this game is that you say I Spy "something brown" and they need to identify something that is brown that you may be looking at. This is a fun game as well as it can be quite educational.

There is a number of games you can purchase at your local department store that you can play in the car. Another thing I would recommend if you can afford it is to purchase a portable DVD player. There are some that are affordable that you can just strap on to the back of your headrest and will entertain the children for hours. Books and coloring books are other options for your children. Enjoy your road trip!
