Movie reviews: Grindhouse

Grindhouse

A double feature for the price of one, Grindhouse has something for everyone. Moviegoers are treated to prevues (that is how it is spelled in the movie) of "fake" movie trailers of shows no real person would hopefully ever want to see. These are blessed with the talents of Rob Zombie, Nicolas Cage, Danny Trejo and many, many more stars. One annoying feature is the "missing reel" parts of the movie. I won't reveal anymore there.

Movie One: Planet Terror

Leave the food at the snack bar for this first flick. It starts out a little slow and appears to be deep into a plot that we have not been privileged to yet but after the brief thought of, "I have to sit through three hours of this", you are immersed into a world of fast paced killings and mutations. Several story lines permeate this uncomplicated plot and at the end you are left scratching your head wondering what they Hell you just witnessed. Tarantino manages to make his usual cameo appearance in both films and there is a surprising impressive cast including Bruce Willis, Rose McGowan, Josh Brolin and Fergie. The film is also fleshed out with a nice array of B list actors.
After all of this, if you are in the right mindset you can actually enjoy the film. This is a movie made strictly for the fun of making films that cover every "man" fetish there could possible be on the planet. With this said, if you are a secure female, who enjoys action packed movies with unexpected twists and more blood than the process of giving birth then this is the movie to take your next date to.

I give it one and a half pinkie fingers

Movie Two: Death Proof

Now this is truly a movie for the girls. Guys I am not sure if you will really enjoy this one as much as the ladies. Staring Kurt Russell and Rosario Dawson this one gives new meaning to the words, "Girl Power". The main disappointment here is that of the two movies in this double feature this is the shorter one. Although the flow of blood is a little more restrained in this flick you will still find yourself turning your head and squirming in your seat. .
A madman secretly stalks groups of women with the intent of making them his "girlfriends". But has he messed with the wrong "cool club" this time? Unfortunately if I tell you much more I will reveal the whole movie. The ending here will have you cheering but if you are like me it will also leave you wanting more. I remained glued to my seat at the end knowing that there had to be more and refusing to be the fool who has to sit back down cause they actually thought it was over. But it never started up again. I felt betrayed. There had to be more! I wanted more!
I am really hoping that when this comes out on DVD that they will then include the "missing reels" so that we may see a little deeper into the story of Stuntman Mike and his fantasy girlfriends.

I give this one and three quarters pinkie fingers
