Tips for treating dry eyes

Dry eyes can we call as the great medical problem of this time. The increase of air pollution and the more frequently use of a computer has a negative impact in the production of tears which are needed for the health of our eyes.

People who don't have this problem mostly don't take much attention to it because they don't realize the gravity of this problem.

Dry eyes are a problem that always has been existed but the changes in our living circumstances causes a higher risk to get it. In the past people came more outside and a computer was mostly not needed to get a job, many facts that keep your eyes more healthy.

But of course dry eyes have also other causes. For a part it is also an aging process, especially during menopause and the side effect of some medicines.
If you wear contact lenses you also have a higher risk to get it. Environments with many smoke and places with air-conditioning are places that you better avoid.

The most important reason of dry eyes is that you don't blink enough with your eyes. That is the great problem when you use a computer, watching television or reading a book you blink 5 times less than in normal circumstances.

The best treatment for dry eyes are to use eye drops (artificial tears) even if you don't have dry eyes and you use a computer almost all days you can better use it too because you need the necessary tears in your eyes.

Another thing you can do is to use a gel to moisten your tear film. Be careful with the kind of gel you use because most of them contain medicinal preservative that may cause allergy. I know it because I suffer also this problem and ocugel without substances to preserve is the product that gives me more comfort to live without constantly pain.
Very important is also the treatment of the Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. With a finger massage you can push your glands empty. Be careful and do it with movements in the form of a circle. You have to do it once a day and it helps you a lot.

Surely don't forget to wear sunglasses in summer. Direct sunlight exposure to our
