Determine the best sources of energy for the future

There are many Various energy options besides fosil fuel, all or which have pros and cons.

Shale:
Pros) Its local.
Cons) It actualy cost around $80 a barrle to refine which cost more than what we get from the midle east. It also produces A LOT more pollution just from the refining process let alone the use.

Hydrogen:
pros) burns to water( YAY! enviroment). decent when in conjunction with natural or nuclear power generation.
cons) Most of the electricity to sperate it from water is made by fosil fuel burning power plants. All parts of the creation loose energy making it less efective than burning the fosil fuel itself (Ie. you burn MORE gase just to make it). Takes Up 3 times the space that current fuel does.

Nuclear fission:
pros) limitless possibilities , completely clean when waste is properly disposed of. Massive energy out-put.
cons) Radioactive bi-products are a very political thing. often they are less harmful than the common radiation you are blasted with everyday, however public fear often causes problems. Current laws would have to be re-written in order to construct more.

hydroelectric:
pros) clean natural energy, abundant. possibly good for personal use.
cons) Know to interfere with some wild life. (who cares about the silvery mino!) . can cause areas to be flooded permenatly.

Geo thermal:
Pros)Clean
cons) not fesible for large scale.

Solar:
pros) Clean, good for personal use
cons) out right cost would take 25 years to recoup and would require massive intial inveestment with low return. Finacialy just to risky and draining for most pockets.

wind:
pros) clean
cons) need alot of area. due to the turbulance around a typical house it would not be very stable or adequate for personal use.

Bio:
pros) can be grown. gets rid of waste in some cases.
cons) The cost of corn recently has shot up at an unstable rate wreaking havoc on several economies. One might have to pay $5 an ear of corn. such is the case with any other targeted supply.

There is much much more. Simply at the time fosil fuels are the best and cheapest way to go. Personaly I would go with nuclear fission, hydroelectric, and geo thermal, and bio.

The best option for all man kind is a Fusion reactor. It is still a work in progress by many scientist around the world.
