Tegan and Sara are brilliant identical twin lesbian musicians. Yes, you heard that correctly. Their music is like 80s punk mixed with modern day pop sensibilities. They have this riot-girl enthusiasm that makes all their music shine.

Though they have been lost in the sea of current young artists they have reason to stand out. They are more than commercial punk-pop. In their album So Jealous I feel like they have finally arrived.

This is an astonishing album. Tegan has a very original voice and this CD best highlights it. My favorite song on this album is "You Wouldn't Like Me", a multi-layered masterpiece of epic proportions.

What I like about these two young women is how they keep it simple. They find the vein and tap in. They do not distract from the melody with unnecessary sub-tracks running concurrent against the good ones like many other artists. I feel like a lot of artists these days try to play it careful by overloading the song with different hooks which in the end only end up canceling each other out! Tegan and Sara avoid all of that.

These girls are a lot more than the lesbians whose songs made Grey's Anatomy... They are a powerhouse in their own right and worthy of much more attention than they have received thus far. I think it is coming within the next three years. They are too good for it not to, and I wish them well.
