Band reviews: Panda Bear

Panda Bear is one of the lesser known artists of the modern generation, that is actually still creating music, contrary to popular belief. Panda Bear is the name of Noah Lennox, an original member of the critically acclaimed threesome Animal Collective, which created several incredibly popular albums that the critics loved and the general public quickly forgot about. This of course, didn't stop Lennox, who has been plugging along every since, even creating a new album that is set to release sometime in 2007.

While many see Lennox as a musical genius, I see him as nothing more than a talentless hack. He has been working in the music industry for so long, yet he really hasn't produced anything that will be remembered today. The reality is that his music had a short time life to it, and because of that, he's fallen into obscurity, which he is completely oblivious to.

The problem with Panda Bear is that it features super repetitive vocals to sounds that are almost like what you would find on one of those nature sounds compilations. You hear all sorts of different animals in the backgrounds, and the lyrics consists of little more than a few words here and there, repeated so often that it would drive anyone outside of 3 years old absolutely insane.

My solution for the Panda Bear epidemic is to package this music as a collection of children's songs, because children love repetition. Then throw in a few educational phrases, and you'd have yourself the next big thing. But instead, Lennox thinks that there is a market for his whale blubbering, monkey spitting music with five word lyrics. To me this is just a sad attempt at making money in the music world by creating music that doesn't revolve around talent as much as it relies on a prayer than there are enough people with auditory problems in the world that would potentially purchase his music.

All in all, it is crap in a plastic case, and I definitely don't like it.
