Oasis is one of the better of the British born bands that have hit the American scene in the last few decades. With a musical style almost identical to that of the Beetles, they have been able to climb the charts time after time. However, their chart climbing hasn't gone unnoticed as the band is also one of the most controversial behind the scenes bands of our time. While to the majority of adoring fans they see just a classy group of guys, the reality is much different. Oasis has been involved in numerous lawsuits that have claimed that they have stolen different copyrights. While most of these lawsuits have simply disappeared, there are still many to this day that are still being fought.
The band first really began to rise to fame in the 90's, but are still around today to some degree, but have for the most part disappeared completely from the American music scene. The band which is most known for songs such as "Wonder Wall" and "Champagne Supernova" became incredibly popular in a very short period of time, and disappeared just as quickly in the United States, while they were still able to maintain a large following in their home country. I think the reality is that Americans just wanted to relive the pop British infusion of the past that they had been missing since the Beetles had left, and after they were done reminiscing, Oasis really didn't serve much of a purpose in the country anymore, and so they moved on.
While they don't have the music original of sounds by any means, they were able to add to their image with the two brothers in the band. These brothers were constantly getting in troubles in the late 90's with different rock icons, and starting all sorts of fights in the music industry in general. It gave them the edge that popularized them in Europe, while the majority of their edginess was missed by the American public, and Americans never really had the opportunity to fall in love with them, as we quickly grew bored with their music style which seemed to stay the same from one song to the next.
But regardless, Oasis was able to bring a different style to the music scene in the United States that we hadn't seen in quite some time, opening the doors for other bands to create music that was different than the standard of the time.
