Trent Reznor has got to be one of the most incredible artists of our time. He has been able to single handedly stand out in a massive field of great lyricists, creating songs that truly blow away anything that has been compared to it. His incredible talent, has gone without notice either as his fans are massive in number, and they have helped to propel Nine Inch Nails to become one of the greatest, most well known bands of our time.
While they are incredibly edgy at times, Nine Inch Nails seems to create songs that are always different, reinventing the sound that we know them for, without going beyond the reason behind why so many of their fans truly enjoy their music. Reznor has been a great deal of the reason why Nine Inch Nails has been so popular. With his incredible vocal abilities being able to hit both the high and the low notes, while turning on the raspy one minute, to being perfectly crisp and beautiful the next. His ability to transform the vocals in the songs has really added to the already powerful melodies that the band creates in each and every song. But even with a great sound, the lyrics are truly powerful and the words actually make sense in it's extreme symbolism.
More than anything, Nine Inch Nails has really pushed the envelop without going overboard. They have created music that has been borderline 'devil' music, but never truly thrown into that category with the likes of Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. Somehow, Nine Inch Nails has been able to keep itself from that label and as such has held a mainstream spot, with such incredibly rich sounds and creativity in their music.
Some of their best songs include, "Pretty Hate Machine", "Closer", and "Hurt", all of which have been huge on the music scene, like anything that they do. But with their great music, also comes awesome artistic music videos that really add to the overall essence that is the band and the music that they create. However, no matter how great their songs may be, their videos have been met with controversy as some have been just too much for even MTV to play in their entirety. This of course has led to the mystique of the band and it nothing else, has made them more appealing to those that truly hate corporate intervention in creativity, especially in music.
The reality is that Nine Inch Nails, while traditionally would be a niche band, has found a way to explode onto the mainstream and become incredibly popular, while not alienating their hardcore fan base, which help them to grow to their current level of super stardom. All in all, if you don't know NIN, then you should get to know them, because they will blow your mind.
