Having trouble deciding on an incredible dessert to make for a party or get together? You need to experience the joy of the sweet taste of buckeyes! It's a southern recipe for a candy that is out of this world. I was first introduced to this drop of heaven by my roommate who is from Ohio, and when I tasted it, it was a wild party in my mouth. Here's what you do.
You'll need:
PEANUT BUTTER
BUTTER (1 STICK)
CONFECTIONER'S SUGAR
MELTED CHOCOLATE
GRAHAM CRACKER CRUMBS (OPTIONAL)
STEP 1:
Mix the peanut butter in a bowl with the stick of butter to get it to a creamy consistency.
STEP 2:
To get the mixture into a paste, you'll need to add the sugar and graham cracker crumbs.
STEP 3:
Dip the peanut butter mixture into the chocolate and leave the top part of the ball showing the peanut buttery color to make it look like a real buckeye.
STEP 4:
Put the buckeyes into the fridge to set and enjoy!
It's really ironic that the buckeyes from the plant are poisonous. This is like a Reese's peanut butter cup on steroids, and it can be bigger depending on the size of the buckeyes that you make.
