Police abuse: Sovereign Immunity protects the abusers

It doesn't bother me at all to write a second Helium article on law enforcement abuses. What bothers me is the need to do so, given that our whore media will not make known explicit accounts provided to them. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, several police officers from Las Vegas went there to do "volunteer" work. They were paid during this time, so I took offence when local Channel 3 TV News ran a couple evening segments praising one of those officers as a "hero" for performing some very light humanitarian duties there.

So I wrote a straightforward letter to Channel 3 News and stated that it was ridiculous to call a paid officer doing these things a "hero" in the event. About three days later, I was returning from my daily early-morning walk just before sunrise, across the street from a local park. This is something I had been doing daily at that location for several months - and there was a Las Vegas Metro Police patrol car parked adjacent to my car. The cop gave me that thousand-yard stare, and spoke continuously into his microphone. Give me a break. Let's all put down our cup of whatever it is that we are sipping right now and repeat several times - "POLICE CRIME! POLICE CRIME! POLICE CRIME!"

These are the people who will speak to you and to the media in measured, resonant tones, and in a moment slide into the stealthy "request" to produce some ID, call up "reasonable suspicion" for further intrusions upon your rights (what a low threshold for abuse, considering what else they do), and then draw up the worst day in the life a citizen ("have you ever been arrested?") without any context whatsoever.

I wish to dedicate this article to those citizens who have ever been arrested without warrant or evidence, those who have ever been approached with that ultimate line of "law enforcement" BS - "we have received an anonymous tip that someone matching your description was seen breaking into cars" or whatever - and to those like myself who have written to the media in good faith and in conformity with the law and an accurate recounting of Government abuses, and who have in the event experienced directed and illegal police responses.

I feel compelled to add some comments here in response to another Helium writer under this topic, in which he asserts that police in any jurisdiction may be sued. That, in practical terms, is patently absurd. For the purposes of this discussion, I will leave aside their surreptitious crimes, and deal with the observable
