A day in the life of a web developer

A typical day for a web developer will consist of 8 or more hours sitting in a cube, staring at the computer screen and bashing out line after line of code. Sometimes you may be requested to attend a meeting or two to break up the day. If you are on a tight deadline, your coding day will extend into the evening or even the night / weekend.

That being sad, there is something immensely satisfying about working as a web developer. Usually you will be working on projects that have a deadline, so you have something tangible to work towards. It is very creative to write code though most non-programmers will not believe that! You can get immediate satisfaction when just a tiny part of your web application begins to work. You can never get bored as there is always something new to learn.

To survive a day as a web developer you will need to learn how to take care of your eyes, and your wrists. (Make sure you have regular vision checkups.) Every fifteen minutes tear your eyes away from the computer screen and look into the distance, and blink to help prevent your eyes from drying out. If you are working long hours, you may want to consider purchasing special therapeutic gloves to wear which help prevent the onset of carpal tunnel syndrome.

When you start dreaming in code, that marks your arrival into the world as a fully fledged web developer. And that is not a joke!
