I was surprised to find the column function under format rather than under insert. But that is just me.
Save, Save, Save
Open Office will save documents in a gazillion different formats. Pretty good stuff Maynard!
And guess what? It will open all those versions too!
Alright, I'm beginning to think that sliced bread has something to worry about.
Ooo! Send as PDF! Oh man, I can simply select Send as PDF and my document will be e-mailed out as a PDF attachment. That is just too cool. And wait till my boss hears about this. He loves to send PDF files, but hates to make them.
OK, OK, I've gotta stop here. This is getting to be too much for the heart. And most people won't want to read even this much.
There are a lot more things to check out. For example the export as HTML function looks interesting, and there are a lot of menu options that are new to me. But I will stop here and save those for later.
My first impression of OpenOffice.org 2.2 is Wow! This is much better that what I saw in the past. From my perspective, it is good enough. Sure there are things that could be better, but isn't that the case with anything.
My recommendation Download it and give it a whirl. Oh yeah did I mention that OpenOffce.org 2.2 is free, and free is a very good price.
