Actually, when people find out I am a diabetic and are shocked, I say to them "what...my neon sign wasn't lit up?" Want to know my secret? Attitude and never miss an injection. The attitude part is not letting people look at you as just a Diabetic. I am a Person who happens to have diabetes, but I am much more than just a number on a meter. That's a huge thing, because doctors and the like all want to know your numbers constantly, and if they're high, make you feel like you're doing something wrong. The injection part, to me that speaks for itself. However, there are some girls who intentionally don't do their injections so that they will lose weight (one of the effects of hyperglycemia). Also, some people are just forgetful or think it's no big deal to miss just one shot. What I've learned? IT IS A BIG DEAL.
