Plastic is relatively a vague term used these days.Plastic itself is made of different materials.High quality plastic bottles is relatively safe if properly sterilized and used as per manufacturer's instructions.However,a recent study of a Chicago based government panel of independent expert studies,commonly used plastic bottles and plastic materials can cause Low Birth Weight, Miscarriage, Infertility and even Cancer.Bisphenol,a polycarbonate compound in plastic can leach into food and enter into our body by constant use of plastic bottles .This can have a substantial impact on the human hormone system itself also called hormone disrupting chemical.A California based research team found the compound Bisphenol in five leading brands of baby feeding bottles .

Plastic drinking water bottles can also cause some major health impacts.Polycarbonate water bottles have also been found to have the compound Bisphenol which can leach into water at even room temperatures.The plastic bottles or PET bottles used for selling packaged water has chances of leaching potential carcinogens by using repeatedly.Buy a water bottle meant for repeated use and use of disposable water bottles has to be avoided.Again,these bottles can be breeding ground of bacteria and cause diseases like diarrhea and vomiting.

Plastics can release dioxin,which is another potential carcinogen into food and water.A Johns Hopkins newsletter which I received as a mail from my friend says the following:
1.Avoid storing plastic bottles and boxes in freezers of the refrigerator
2.Avoid plastic containers in microwave.Glass containers are more suitable for microwave.
3.Avoid using plastic wraps for reheating packaged food materials in microwave.

Chromosomal defects ,miscarriages and low birth weight babies is thought to have a direct link with use of plastic bottles.Extreme care should be taken in choosing good bottles.Avoid using non reusable plastic bottles again and again.
