Self esteem and the job search

You are looking for work. Jobs are few and applicants abound. The job you want is one in a field you have always wanted to work in but you have never applied for before because you have no formal training. As always, the application asks for your job qualifications. What qualifications do you have? You don't know how to fill in that part of the application because you are unsure of what your qualifications are or even if you have any to start with and you are unsure of the qualifications the employer is looking for. All you know is that you need a job and this is one you feel you would be happy in. You just don't know how to get your foot in the door, how to get started.

In defeat, you leave it blank and submit the application knowing you will not get the call you want so badly and yet again make the rounds of putting in applications for jobs that hold no interest and have no specific job qualifications other than a minimal knowledge of how to follow directions.

This happens to many people. They are bypassed for jobs that they may have an actual talent for because they are uncertain of how to come up with the correct answers on an application.

What do you do? How do you overcome the uncertainty?

There are numerous sites on the internet that will instruct you on how to fill out an application or how to complete a resume. I have not found one yet but I am sure there is a site out there that that will help you define your qualifications. In actual fact, I am looking for one to help me define MY qualifications for something other than basic skilled factory work. It would be wonderful to discover one that erases lack of confidence in my own skills.
