It's a good idea to find a subject area you enjoy the most. By focusing on one subject for a significant period of time, gives you the time you will need to master your subject , internally, externally, and with intimate detail.
Study your subject by , observation through out different times of the day.
If outdoor, then study the weather and its effects on your subject area.
Research similar images and photographers popular in that field.
Produce a portfolio.
Learn how to market your images, your name.
Create a website.
shadow a professional photographer in your field of interest.
Tell your friends and family about your new career as a Photographer.
Take your new role seriously so it will be easy for other people to take you seriously.
Get business cards and distribute them.
