The Dirty Works emerging from the South are one of your more chaotic bands of today. With heavy pounding drums, distorted twangy guitar, solid but experimental bass and horse, raspy, rage filled vocals the music has an obvious effect on the listeners.
After an onstage brawl and near riot in Memphis TN, a spokesperson for the band told NPRS Ann Loyd (Who was doing an Article on the band and Internet censorship)
"These guys don't want to cause violence or start riots, they're having fun. They obviously wish the same for their fans.
Critics will argue that if the crowd hear lyrics such as
(Actual Dirty Works Lyrics)
Why is it you only beat on women
Why do you hit little kids
if I got you alone for a minute
I'd pistol whip your ass you little Prick
Fight Fight Fight Fight Fight
Doesn't matter if you're black or you're white
See something wrong make it right
Fight fight fight start a riot tonight
That this just encourage them to act out violently.
B.Riot states why attack punk bands? because we slam dance? That gets aggression out. Look at some of this Rap Crap out there, now that's telling kids to kill. B.Riot is the black drummer for The Dirty Works and blames rap music and Ebonics for setting his race back by years. " What is ebonics other than telling me because I'm a black man I can't speak English?"
Christopher Scum, front man admits that hard driven music can contribute to violent and anti-social behaviors.
"The Worlds a violent fu* place, if people wanna use our music for a sound track to their violence so be it. I'd rather think of them getting together with it
but to me, as long as their listening. Scum is Native American. " I would be honored if the air Force used our music as they did an air attack and wiped out the radicals in Iraq.
Steven Boozy Crime The Brazilian Jew of the band (all the band are proud of their heritage) says he'd rather hear about the music being used in car races or during sex but fighting is alright and claims to have grown up fighting.
Obviously the Dirty Works music has an effect on people, it pumps them up, creates aggression, or contributes to it. The Band however, seem unconcerned about it.
"Here's ya some of that thar devil Music!" Scum sreamed at a crowd one show.
