If you are very attracted to someone, and feel that you must know where you stand, you are moving too fast. Relax, take a deep breath, and try to have fun with this person instead. Relationships that last and are good evolve- they are not created. They grow on their own. You won't have to ask if they exist.
When you decide to stop seeing someone, this can be especially hard for a shy person. Learning to say "no" may entail some insensitive bumbling and email dumping for a while. Don't be too hard on yourself. Don't be too hard on the other person. Tell them what you would want to know; if you were them, and they were you.
Be honest with people. Once again, the feelings you have are shared by even the most confident person. You may occasionally meet someone so confident that they've never had sweaty palms- these people are mutant freaks of nature and should not be dated by humans, anyway. Steer clear of them, and consider their bad behavior a good warning.
Most of all, treat others the way you would want to be treated. Judge by looks only if you are willing to be; lie only if you would like to be lied to; lead people on at your own risk. Honesty and ethical bethavior are more important than being flashy or self-assured.
A little kindness can go a long way. Find common interests, and pursue them. Be casual when dating and flirting, and don't put too much pressure on yourself. You can be shy all you want, and still be a great date.
