Don Imus is a cranky old radio personality. A personality. Radio. And from that Simulcast (Woooooooooo!) craggy faced one, too. Did I mention he was a personality.
1. I believe he is not an award winning journalist.
2. Not a a respected hard hitting fact finding news reporter.
3. He has not run for President and raised money to do so.
4. He has not visited countries to try to get back hostages or seek peace.
5. He reads the news and comments on it. And he seems more liberal than other conservative radio commentators while being not liberal at all.
6. He is an original SHOCK JOCK.
7. He is a commentator.
8. To some he is their daily wake-up.
9. To others (like me) he is full of himself as well as full of @%&%.
10. He is such an important personality on radio today that NO radio stations carry him here in Indy.
I have listened to Stern on Sirius, Bob and Tom.
And Mancow.
I have heard them...
1. Tell lesbians to touch themselves.
2. Their female co-host to service them.
3. To have them take off clothes.
4. An American Idol Contestant is a towel head.(?)
5. Jokes on Jews, Catholics, gays, blacks, soldiers, the President, Vice President
6. Testicles
7. Smurfs with testicles
If I thought Imus was Walter Cronkite, I'd be shocked but alas no!
Imus could have...the day after the comment...before the furor took shape...made sure every member of the Rutgers Basketball team would be on the show, (live or phone patch) And then in his craggy voice repeated what an Idiot he was with his flippant UNFUNNY comment and congratulate each of them for what a remarkable achievement it was for them and the school.
And then in a Bob and Tom/Stern turn of brilliance (?) create a inane song about it.
Let the market place decide.
By taking him off the airwaves, you have taken away rights from those who choose NOT to listen to him and can turn the station to ruin his Arbitron ratings.
Which is debatable.
