This year, since my birthday fell on the day after Easter, my family decided to celebrate it on Easter. First they picked my husband and I up and drove us upstate to my Mom-in-Law's house. We had a lovely ham dinner with asparagus, green beans, mashed potatoes, homemade biscuits, sweet potatoes, turnips, creamed onions, and gravy. Afterwards we had Boston Cream Pie, blueberry pie, gingerbread cake and orange cake to choose from, and I had to blow out all the candles on all four. We had all the wine, beer, soda and Perrier we could drink.

Then we went in front of the fireplace where I could open my gifts. I received three blouses and a Summer handbag. I also got two tickets for my husband and me to see "Drowsy Chaparone" which is supposed to be a great play and very uplifting. Of course, there were two Lottery tickets for my ever hopeful husband. I don't put much hope in that anymore, but it's fun. Then there was a bottle of wine. There were beautiful cards, but the one from my Mom-in-Law stands out in my mind because she composed it herself. I'll always remember that she said "he caught the best catch."

I married into a wonderful family, as you can tell. I will always remember this Easter and birthday as the most warm and loving one I have had in years.
