In fact, you could easily argue that they are better at doing the job than you would be. They know which chemicals to use, and what the appropriate amounts are. They handle chemicals carefully, and they dispose of containers properly. The majority of home owners don't know what they are doing, and they over-use chemicals and pour the remains down drains illegally. Few of us think we can just go out and rewire our electricity outlets, so why should we think that taking care of our lawn is any less complex or dangerous?

In the past few years, the lawn care companies have evolved so that you can request low-impact, no-chemical services. You can seek their advice and assistance on devising a lawn that requires less water and maintenance. You can get as creative as you want, and they can help you achieve your vision.

My vote - Hire a lawn service, and use the time you've saved to volunteer in the community, play with your kids, read a good book, or write for Helium.
