Maintaining your lawn on a regular basis year after year will actually keep the lawn healthier, and in better shape, and keep the weeds down easier. The best way to keep weeds out is a healthy thick green lawn.

If you use the lawn care program only when there is a problem, or when the weeds get out of hand, you will have to do a lot more work, spend more money, and use way more chemicals than if you just preventatively maintain the lawn.

I will say, though, that if you cannot find a lawn care company that actually knows what it is talking about, or if you don't do the recommendations to fix or prevent problems, then you are probably just wasting your money. Don't blindly just think you can do better than the professionals though.

If your lawn care program meets the needs and problems of the lawn, and you keep up on the proper maintenance, then the money saved is worth spending on the annual program.

Finally, consider what your time is worth. Would you rather be entertaining with family and/or friends? There are people who get paid to do the job of the lawn, and they always have time for it.
