Gift baskets make fabulous gifts for any occasion because they can be any size, fit any budget, and can easily be personalized. The key is to make the gift basket itself as enjoyable as the contents.

Women like gifts that come in beautiful packages and tantalize the senses. Most women would love a pretty basket containing something that tastes or smells divine, while others prefer a gift that makes their life easier, or allows them to enjoy something they would not indulge in for themselves.

If you don't have a lot of money, give a small, pretty gift basket with a tiny bit of the best chocolate you can afford and a small bottle of decent wine. If you can't afford that, bake the best cookies you know how to bake and wrap them beautifully in a bakery box tied with some satin, wire-edged ribbon.

If the woman is on a perpetual diet, choose a few fabulous scented candles, or a small sampling of the most fabulous hand creams you can find.

If you can afford to, give a woman something she would not splurge on for herself. Many women would love a manicure, a pedicure, a facial, or a massage. Tuck a gift certificate into the basket along with some nail polish, moisturizer cream, or some yummy lotion.

Very busy women love gifts that make their lives easier, like a gift certificate for a meal out, a day of babysitting, or a one-time house cleaning. Gift certificates for those kinds of things can be tucked into baskets rounded out with an assortment of inexpensive personalized items. I know of a few stores in my area that have "dollar" sections. I pick up things like "post-it" notes in the shape of their initial, or note cards with their initials on them, scented candles, grocery list pads, etc.

If the gift recipient has a hobby, cater to that. Fishermen love fishing baskets full of lures and rolls of fishing line. Toss in a fishing hat and some snacks and you've got a great gift basket.

A teenage boy with a car will enjoy a gift basket with car wax, a wash mitt, tire cleaner, and air freshener.

A knitter will love a basket full of assorted yarns.

The options are endless! Just use your imagination. The only thing you really have to worry about is having so much fun that you get totally carried away!
