Guidelines and limits to Christian witness

Most Christians of moderate Biblical knowledge understand that apostle Paul wrote the majority of the New Testament. In the form of letters Paul sent out to various church's, he gave God given instruction, and clarification on the finer points of Christianity, as well as the responsibilities of the church. What few people seem to pause and realize, is Paul was in fact witnessing to established congregations. No, it wasn't the "get saved now, ask me how", definition of todays witnessing. It was a more complete, get saved, study the word, and follow the call on your life; aka work, kind of witness. Though this doesn't account for Paul having been stoned, flogged, and beaten throughout his ministry, people thinking it might have, could account for the lack of "iron sharpening iron" conversations in today's church. Though I doubt it.

Truth is, the church is not immune to the impacts of society. All the trappings of a fast paced, over scheduled, societal standard, can be found in the average congregation. Most conversations of true, Biblical nature among the Body are cut short, or non existent. This group is on their way to lunch, but the focus isn't on that mornings sermon, but rather socializing. That group has a sporting event to get to, or party to set up for. Many things have become powerful motivations to get in and get out of Sunday morning service. But, keep in mind, this is not a point of condemnation. American society is entrenched in the lifestyle of distraction. A distraction from the realities of this world, and of ourselves. With Mp3 players, DVD systems and stereos in our cars, movies, internet, on demand TV, youth sports, dance and cheer, home improvements, hobbies, social gatherings, gardening, and work, the only time afforded for introspection, and contemplation of life's truths, is when we're asleep. Even then, there are CD's and tapes you can play to give your now troubled mind a rest. Western culture is obsessed with the avoidance of personal conviction, and therefore lost. Condemnation should give way to brotherly love, and brotherly love invokes change through encouragement.

Assuming you agree that Biblical literacy is at an all time low in the church. And you agree many believers are being exploited because of it. And you feel a lack of Biblical discussions is a main contributing factor. What is it you can do to initiate a change? As in addressing any issue, especially those within the Body, the first and most important step is to insure you
