What a paradox. For a very long time I have lived to eat. I simply enjoyed good food and good friends. I loved to experiment with different flavors, cuisines, and ingredients. Soon, however, I saw that my scale didn't like the notion of living to eat. I wasn't obese. Just about 20 lbs. overweight. Yes, that is significant, but how could I not enjoy food? I decided that I would simply eat what was necessary to live and live healthily (I'm not sure if that is really a word). After a time (a very short time) I decided that was not very enjoyable. Trying to find a way to enjoy my food and still eat to live was not an easy task. It seems that too many people are all one or the other (either they simply eat to live - boring, or they live to eat). The task was made easier by scouring magazines like Cooking Light. I found myself watching healthy cooking shows and other similar resources. I soon discovered that I could still enjoy wonderful flavors and sometimes have the decadent dessert and still eat to live healthily. We don't have to choose, we simply have to be smart about it.

It doesn't exactly take "rocket science" to identify the link between what we put in our mouths and our state of health.
