Web based calendars and their use

There are a great many different types of online, web-based calendars. They all attempt to showcase your upcoming events in an easy to use display. They are all accessible through the Internet and the Web. One of the most popular is Google Calendars (http://www.google.com/calenda r). Google Calendars allows you to maintain a calender of your upcoming events, meetings, birthdays, and anything else you wish to keep track of. Another popular site is Yahoo Calendars (http://calendar.yahoo.com).

Th e best part about online calendars is that they are completely free!

One big advantage of a web-based calendar is there is no software which is required to be installed on your computer, beyond your standard web browser. This means you can check and use your calendar from any computer, anywhere on the planet. Another advantage is that you can give other people access to your calendar, so that it becomes a collaborative effort and allows groups of people to schedule meetings together. This would be useful in a business setting, where all the employees of a small business could collaborate on a calendar and quickly see where all the employees will be on a certain day.

If you're used to a program such as Microsoft Outlook or Apple's iCal to store your events, you can actually import your calendar from those programs into the web calendar of your choice quickly and easily.

Google's Calendar even allows you to send invitations to events you setup, and people can RSVP and comment on the event, similar to Evite's services.

In short, web-based calendars are used by people all over the world, and the ease and free nature of the online calendars makes them a great choice for a variety of people!
