If you're fortunate enough to live in suburbia, and you happen to be single, I have some good news for you. There is no better place to meet singles than in suburbia, if you know where to look for them.

First, forget all the preconceived notions you may have about where to meet other singles. And especially forget the fallacy that you have to go to bars downtown, or clubs uptown, if you want to meet other singles.

In fact, if you live downtown, you may just decide to take a bus, cab, or subway car and get out to the suburbs yourself. Because there are great places in the heart of suburbia to hook up with singles just like you.

They aren't in the crappy bars and clubs that can be found strewn here and there in the more congested parts of the suburbs. The singles that hang around those boring dives are not the ones you want to meet. Just stay out of them.

Instead, get yourself to the mecca of suburbia singles land - and prepare to have some fun.

Where is this promised land? This Xanadu of suburban singledom?

Well, it's easy to find, and it has great parking... it's your suburban Walmart or other giant big-box store.

These stores are packed full of singles, and saying hello to them is a breeze. Because you always have something to talk about.

My favorite place is the pet food isle. Women love to help a guy who is trying to pick out the best dog food for his new puppy, cherished best friend, or beloved older dog (shoehorn your mutt into one of these popular categories).

If you have a cat, that's even better. Loads of single girls have cats for pets, and love to talk about their little cat personalities. If you can claim any abilities as a pet psychic - and guys, these aren't very hard to acquire; it's not like the cat is going to correct you - you've got a guaranteed date with your cat fancier.

Now I've slanted this article towards guys, but if you're a single girl reading this the news is even better.

A big-box store is the perfect place to approach a guy you think you might be interested in. For one thing, he'll most likely be sober. For anther,he'll interpret your approach as a genuine effort to help him, rather than an attempt to hit on him. Most guys are imbeciles when it comes to shopping and you'll have an easy entre as they anguish over dishwasher detergent(likely wondering where the flavor is mentioned), or whatever other common consumer item has them confounded.

So if you live in suburbia, or even if you don't, and you're looking to meet other singles, head out to the nearest big-box store, and get ready to choose from a wide selection of available shopping singles.
