Alberta, Canada natives and identical twins, Tegan and Sara Quin, caught a break in the music industry when they were discovered after winning a local singing competition. Despite a contract with a Canadian music group, the now twenty-seven year old women were also offered a joint-contract in the United States under Neil Young's recording label, Vapor Records.

Tegan and Sara, whose sound is a mixture of their ironically opposing personalities, have garnered a considerably wide fan-base, even within the United States, and particularly among female fans. Their music is sweet, harmonious, and often very touching. Their individual styles and thoughts are often reflected in the tracks they each write.

Although both women are incredibly talented vocally, boasting wide ranges and high notes, the sisters differ immensely when it comes to the methodology behind their song writing, evident in the differences between lyrics written by one twin or the other, bringing a bit of diversity to each vocal.

Since their break into the industry, the twins have recorded and toured with many revered musical artists including Young, The Pretenders, and even Weezer. Most recently, fans have been anticipating the twins' latest album, The Con, set to be released in the summer of 2007. Hopefully, their popularity will continue to spread throughout the country as their songs receive more airplay.
