Working for local government, whenever our law enforcement officers or firefighter personnel come in to transact business, and they are on duty, we try to get them in and out as soon as possible without seeming to be biased to the general public. One day one of my co-workers saw a law officer and motioned him over in order to get him in and out. After the transaction, he said, "Thank you. I appreciate you taking care of me. I have a call." My co-worker said, "I'm just doing my job."
The next day, my co-worker was exceeding the speed limit on the way to work and was pulled over by local law enforcement. It was the officer that she waited on the day before, and she was hoping that he would let her go. As he wrote out the speeding ticket, he said, "Thank you for helping me, yesterday. I'm so sorry that I have to do this, I'm just doing my job." An unbiased officer!...I'll wait on him next time.
