Losing to Gain
(the end of a moment which lasted for an eternity)

a chapter has unfolded beyond control
with all respite and resistance,
to stick with status quo was the goal
the uncertainty of an end met with hesitance

but as sure as the arrival of a new day
the change of heart was an inevitable force,
of a once fairy tale story turned into a tragedy
no alchemy nor emotions could stop the course

the life i cherished erstwhile,
with an angel, sharing a love so sweet
seemingly perfect but fallen all the same,
discarded like dew drops on the edge of a leaf
with no one to see the last drop fall in vain

full of pain and anguish, acceptance was the way
to bear the burden of a treacherous heart,
despite all the moments of joy and ecstasy
the end still came, thus feeling the betray

between - to love and to lose -
a moment passes too long, an eternity of affliction
full of sorrow and sadness, such poison
with the tomorrows gone, the future is unclear
life without the love is full of fear

then a new angel knocks, on doors not there before
the dying rose tastes the rays of soft sunlight anew
life blooms afresh in a heart that once was blue
the pieces sewn together, new tomorrows start to form
a horizon with new beginnings, offered by the new beloved morn

holding the hand of someone novel
to create and walk a different path,
unfamiliar to old dreams once held
the expectation of a new future
makes life seem beautiful at last

a bright promise awaits of life and love
not from the past but that of an unexpected dew,
the heart beats again for a stranger thereto
and the old familiar reason has gone to pass

'tho the mind can still paint a picture
of a face that once was treasured
the heart cannot remember the feeling
of an old love that once was so pure

now the sun is on the east
the west has gone so fast
the soul sparkles with vitality
a fresh new chance at last

in this unending journey
of life and love wholly
the hand that holds this hand
will forever be...
