The Sanjaya saga is now out-of-control. The American "Idol" madness must stop!

This seemingly sweet naive kid has now become the brunt of many cruel jokes, many vindictive slags and vile personal attacks.

American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, has threatened to quit if Sanjaya wins, while shock-jock Howard Stern continues his insane quest to keep Sanjaya on the show.

Another web site has begun its campaign to counter Stern's attempts and oust Sanjaya.

But what about Sanjaya in all this?

The bottom line is that the kid CAN sing. He may be sweet and naive, even a bit silly (that Mohawk look was just too much) but he CAN sing.

And what's more, he has guts.

In spite of the personal attacks to his character and the judges' unkind comments, Sanjaya has managed to hold up his head, continue to be pleasant, and continue to show up each week...to sing.

And that ought to be worth something. If the world can't abide Sanjaya's singing, then at least it must give him the thumbs-up for his unrelenting courage.
