This country is filled with millions of single people who are looking in the mirror each and every day and wondering "What is wrong with me?" It can be easy to fall into a cycle of negative thoughts and internal dialogue that will inevitably bear unfavorable outcomes. Certainly, you won't attract anyone if you feel so lowly about yourself.
So, if you want to stop being single, start realistically evaluating your thoughts and behaviors. Take some time to meditate and learn to identify and acknowledge any self-defeating thoughts you may be having. Remember that that the first step to overcoming these negative thoughts is to recognize that they are there. Do not dwell in denial simply because you are afraid of what you might find or what may happen. Relationships involve taking risks and giant leaps of faith, if you can't do this for yourself, how do you expect to do it for someone else?
Consider your past relationships and the choices you have made. Learn from your mistakes and destructive behavior so that you can create healthier alternative ways of living. Most importantly, however, remember to be true to yourself above all. Don't fall into the trap of changing yourself in order to make your partner happy. Recognize your strengths and weakness and try to improve on them, but do not let anyone else tell you what is wrong or right with you. You can be the judge of that yourself. It is always better to be alone and happy than to be with someone who makes you absolutely miserable or prevents you from achieving your full potential.
Once you've made amends with the person that you are, think about what you want in a potential partner. Be realistic about your standards and expectations and dive into atmospheres that are conducive for meeting these particular "types" of people. Chances are you won't meet Mr. or Mrs. Right at a club at three in the morning. Also, keep in mind the signals you are putting out there as well. If you're dressed like a college student, you're likely to attract college students.
Overall, do not put pressure on yourself to couple-up. Being single can be extremely liberating and conducive to positive personal growth, so avoid putting yourself on restrictive life "timelines" and instead focus on measuring your progress through self-centered objectives. You have to love yourself before anyone else can.
