First of all, keep in mind that the use of this method is illegal unless you own the actual game and are simply having trouble with a virtual image. It just happens that if you don't have the game and don't mind overstepping your rights, this still works nonetheless.
You need a couple programs for this:
A torrent downloader, e.g. Azureus: http://azureus.sourceforge.net /
WinRar: http://www.rarlab.com/
Daemon Tools: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtc c/announcements.php
And sometimes YASU (Yet Another SecuROM Utility): http://www.ggmania.com/?smsid= 23510
Keep in mind that none of these programs are sponsored by myself and I'm not responsible for what you do with this information, nor is Helium, as none of this information is intended for users who do not actually own the games.
Alright, so let's just explain the basics here: P2P (Peer to Peer) filesharing networks exist everywhere. The most common form of P2P filesharing these days is Torrents, which are simply extensions that allow files to be shared via simple programs like Azureus. Sites that allow downloading of these torrents are always free access. The torrents themselves only provide tracker information (how to locate people with the file or file parts) and thus are not the actual games themselves. A good site to start at is http://www.torrentspy.com/ which offers games, movies (discretion here, there are X-rated films on these sites, not work safe). You open the file using Azureus, and allow a generally fairly long time for it to download (10-30kbps is a normal speed, so it may take a day or two) and then use WinRar to extract it.
Winrar sometimes puts files into .01 .02 etc. extensions, called archives. Just unpack the .01 or the first file in the folder, and all the others will follow. Individually unpacking them won't work. The next phase is mounting what's called an ISO (the virtual disc of the game) onto your Daemon Tools utility, which simply offers virtual disc-drives and bypasses to some anti-cracking software commonly found in games. With this, you play exactly like you would your hard-copy of the game, and can use your normal CD key to install. This is a particularly good method if you've scratched your disc or lost it, but still want to play the game.
