Like most casual golf fans, my family and I gather around the television for Sunday at the Masters. The first Sunday in April usually brings winter to an end, and visions of a pin high 7 iron from 155. The majestic scenery at Augusta national is unrivaled. Every flower is perfect, every blade of grass is cut. The Masters is the history of American golf. The tournament deserves all the hype it gets leading up to it, and the significance it plays to the winner. However, when I'm forced to watch my favorite golf tournament with the volume down, there needs to be changes. It's bad enough you just spent 3 weeks listening to Jim Nantz ruin your NCAA tournament, now you are forced to listen while every spectator is quiet. There is no shot of drowning him out with crowd noise. Every time your are brought back from commercial, you feel as if you should go hug your grandmother, or name your next kid Jack Arnold Byron. The constant slurping of Tiger Woods is enough to make a man watch the NBA. I get it, he's the best ever, but cramming it down my throat like a Sunday afternoon of J Lo movies, is a bit much. Every curse, every club throw, and every bowl movement of Tiger's, is broadcast by CBS. Let's try giving some credit to other players who hit great shots, have had great careers, and are classy guys. I have the rest of my life to hear about Eldrick and his mental toughness. All I want is a late March, thru early April, vacation for Mr. Nantz and his travelling Tigerfest. Golf is an impossible game, and one that can never be mastered. Let's take that into consideration and give some credit to the man who outplayed Tiger.
