Secrets to developing as a dancer when you have two left feet

When learning to dance, remember that having two left feet is better than having no feet. So, things could certainly be worse. First things first, you need to find a good teacher, partner, video, or guru. (You could also join a dance class) You need someone to work with you that won't get easily frustrated. Don't be scared to ask for help. If you don't understand a step, have it broke down to you like you are a two year old. Be careful to stay on your own level in the beginning. You don't want to set yourself up to fail.

Confidence is an important part of dancing. How you feel when you are moving your body shows. If you are comfortable, you will look more at ease. Keep a smile on your face. Be relaxed. You don't have to impress anyone. Dance because you like it. Dance because you want to. Dance because you have fun when you do.

Try some stretching exercises before you get started. Work on being a little more limber. Try to loosen up a little, so you feel relaxed. Most common mistakes in dancing are made because the dancer is uncomfortable. Take a deep breath. Let the bad energy out and the good energy in.

Many people have problems with keeping to the beat. They may lack rhythm among other things. Try counting the beats in your head. When the song plays, count along. This will help you keep control of your body movements to. You don't want to look spastic, unless that is the kind of dance you are doing at the moment.

Practice makes perfect. Keep trying. Dance around the house when you are doing chores. Dance to the mailbox. Dance around the garden when you are planting vegetables. It doesn't matter if you have music or not. Just dance. If you are having fun when you are doing it, then there really is no wrong way.
