Ritual of honoring pregnant woman in India is like this:

In India , this ritual is celebrated at home itself. They allocate a large spacious hall in the home to celebrate this traditional ceremony. The function is celebrated like this. The mom-to-be will wear a new silk Saree which she receives from her mother. She also wear all her precious jewelry given by mother and mother-in-law and husband. Many female friends involve in doing make up to the mom-to-be. They decorate the hair with long flower garland. Some red colored liquid called "parani" is applied to the feet. Henna is applied on both hands and feet. After all arrangements, the mom-to-be will sit in a beautifully decorated big chair. All female friends and relatives bring bangles and sweets for the mom-to-be. All mothers put bangles which they have brought to the mom-to-be and bless her to deliver a healthy baby.

After the everyone finished putting bangles to the mom-to-be, the delicious lunch is offered to the guests. All traditional dishes are served on this particular day. All varieties are made keeping both guests and mom-to-be in mind.
Entertainment is the next and most interesting thing in this ceremony. There will be plenty of games and cultural programs performed by female friends of mom-to-be. Mothers generally sing and dance on this day. They tease the mom-to-be through dance and action. Everything is celebrated with happy and joy on this particular day. Gifts distribution is the another important thing. A gift pack containing blouse piece , banana ,pan leaves, nut, currency , sweets and gift article like household item is distributed to all guests.

The last and main thing is photos. Those wonderful moments and sweet memories of that special day are captured in camera or camcoder to recollect the sweet memories later. After the function is finished parents and relatives of mom-to-be take her to her mother's house. She stays there till she gives birth to child.

This ceremony is celebrated as a great function in India.
