The best way to travel for free without a great deal of time and effort is to offset your costs along the way rather than expect them to be paid for up front. So, while you can become a courier or flight attendant, those both take a great deal of time and/or education. Instead, I would advise the following:
1) Work along the way - A lot of people travel Europe with a backpack and use money they've saved to do so. However, you can also take odd jobs at hostels, bars or restaurants along the way. The legality of this can be questionable, so be safe and know the laws of the country you are in.
2) Avoid paying for sites - many museums, for example, offer student discounts or are free on particular days of the week. Old churches and other things worth seeing are frequently entirely free. There are many things to do in any place you travel to, so just skip the expensive ones or the ones that cost money altogether.
3) Don't eat in restaurants - it sounds obvious but I've met so many travelers who wasted away their funds by always eating out, either because it was convenient or they weren't familiar with grocery stores where they were traveling. Simply pack non-perishable or semi-perishable (e.g. smoked sausage, cheese and crackers) items.
4) Take regional non-tourist transit - many people go to vacation spots and take tours. However, regional transport can be a lot cheaper. Two examples: in Berlin a tour around the major city sites can cost $50, but there is a city bus that makes the same circuit for $2. From Mazatlan, Mexico you can take a tour to the 500 year old town of Copala: tour costs $65, regional bus costs $4.
Best of luck on your journey!
