Commentary: Why churches are packed on Easter and not on regular Sundays

Easter is a holiday and for many people church attendance is a part of the tradition of Easter. A large number of Americans believe that attending church on Christmas and Easter aids them in appeasing God. They may also believe that attending on holidays makes them a better person.

While they may not be opposed to church or organized religion, many feel that church is irrelevant to their lives. Sadly, in many cases this is true. Some churches have not adapted their methods or attempted to make church relevant to the lives of those under the age of 55. I am not saying that churches should change the message or Gospel but rather the methods by which it is transmitted.

Skeptics argue that church and religion are man made, and they do not need to attend. Religion is man's attempt to reach God. However, Christianity revolves around a relationship with God, who is both personal and living. Attending church is not mandatory, but it is through corporate worship that our faith grows. Quite simply for many is not a priority.
