The differences between having a gift and being truly gifted

My sister Julie has a gift and her children are gifted. There is a big difference.
Julie struggled through school and was always in the drop out prevention program.
But even in kindergarten she was the star artist.

The teacher called my mother in for a conference to show her the drawing Julie had done.Mrs.Houseman asked the children to draw a picture of her.The portrait my sister did was so amazing that the teacher just had to show my mother.

Later a teacher actually offered to send Julie to Heidelburg Germany to study art.
Julie was too shy to ever go but she was elated over the offer.
Julie married her high school sweetheart and had two beautiful children.
They are precocious, sensitive kids who are very intense about everything they do.
They are not artistic at all but they are creative thinkers.

After some behavior problems at school (caused by boredom),they were both tested for the gifted program. Now they are much happier in school.

Julie is a little sad that they aren't really interested in art but she is glad to see them thriving .Their teachers recognized the signs that indicate a truly gifted person...
Boredom
Intense feelings about everything
Sensitivity
a questioning nature
These are some of the signs but a battery of tests and an evaluation by a psychologist
will be neccessary to be sure that a child is "Gifted".
