Testimonies: Do you prefer dogs or cats?

I love cats and dogs but I prefer a cat because they are quiet, cuddly and cleaner. Yes, I would like a dog but living in an apartment just won't due. Cats don't chew your furniture or eat your shoes and no potty training. Cats basically take care of themselves and it is easier to sleep with a cat than a dog.

Dogs need to go outside in all kinds of weather and you have to clean their paws when they come inside the house on rainy or snowy days. Dogs are hairier, so you need to brush them all the time and vacuum everyday. I already have two boys who don't take care of themselves or help clean the house. A dog would probably get neglected in my house.

All the cats I have had like to cuddle with me and keep me company. They follow me around like a dog and even sit and watch television with me. It is much easier to get an apartment with a cat than a dog. Cats are playful with any old thing. They are very funny to watch and they talk to you in their own way. Cats don't bark, so I don't have to worry about neighbors complaining. I am not one to take a dog out when it is raining or snowing either with 20 below wind chills. Dogs require a lot of attention from puppy to adult and I simply don't have the time. Cats on the other hand are very independent and go in a litter box.

Besides all of those reasons there is the expense of having a dog. To me, the expense of having a dog is far greater than a cat. Dogs require that heart worm test and pills because they go outside. They eat more and need chew toys and bones for their teeth. Than there is a yard and fence because they can't stay in the house all day. Putting in a dog run for exercise and going to the groomer is something I just can't afford. No, not enough money, time or big enough place for a dog. Definitely, not enough energy. I remember what it was like to have a dog so I know.
Yes, cats can climb your curtains and get into mischief too, but this is nothing compared to the damage a dog can do if your not at home. Having a cat for me is perfect. I can give him or her a happy home and not feel guilty. Having a dog would be very selfish on my part because I wouldn't be able to care for him or her the way I should. My cat and I are perfect together. I buy her little play toys and treats but really all she needs is me. My cat doesn't need lots of attention but she is always there for me. Hats off to all you dog owners.
