The Politics of Global Destruction
Due to this weekend's weather, we had earmuffs being worn in abundance at the Masters, snow on cherry blossoms in DC, baseball games being moved up in the day or postponed due to ice and snow and 34 degree weather in Downtown Houston... Happy Easter! I guess if it wasn't for global warming, I'd really be freezing my butt off!
Liberalism is the Baskin-Robbins of doom-and-gloom. You can buy into it in just about any flavor.
In the sixties, LBJ gave us the daisy ads, telling us that if we did not vote for him and the democrats, we were going to suffer a nuclear holocaust. He then held us captive to the Viet Nam war, where the bulk of over 58,000 US troops died on his watch.
In the seventies, Jimmy Carter won the presidency with the inspirational concept of the 'misery index' - a combination of inflation and unemployment. Both worsened on his watch.
In the eighties, democrats again warned us that the Republicans under Reagan would lead us to nuclear war. Instead, Reagan led the defeat of our greatest cold war enemy of over 50 years.
In the nineties, democrats tried to stem the 1994 Republican revolution with widespread ads about the election of Republicans leading to the burning of black churches and other charges of eroding civil rights for minorities and women. We then had to suffer being the laughingstock of the world due to Bill Clinton's treatment of women and his antics in a sexual harassment suit, along with many instances of Clinton cronies caught up in scandals, hit squads, imprisonments and even mysterious deaths under suspicious circumstances.
In the 2000 election, seniors were told that electing G W Bush would lead to the loss of their medical benefits. Instead, (and sadly) they also received governmental prescription drug benefits.
Now, democrats are trying to convince us that the debate is over and we should treat it as fact - global warming is a reality. Except it isn't.
Back in the mid-seventies, the liberals were warning us of the pending recurrence of the Ice Age. It, too, was scientific fact. The 'evidence' was so solid that we are now discussing global warming only 30 years later.
It was every bit as much fact as DDT causing the extinction of many species of birds. In spite of mountains of evidence to the contrary, this myth has continued to persist, and the consequence of the resulting liberal policies has been devastating.
DDT has been scientifically proven to prevent many diseases, including malaria.
