Classic cars: What is a muscle car?

The general definition of a muscle car is a car that has a whole lot of horsepower & torque in a very small body or shell. The power to weight ratio is what actually makes a muscle car. Muscle cars tend to be excellent drift racing cars and also do superbly on 1/4 mile drag races. So if you have a car doing 11 seconds or less on a quarter mile and excellent at drifting then certainly you have a muscle car. The availability of a lot of torque on a rear-wheel drive vehicle also makes a muscle car. Especially if the front of the car raises upwards during a launch for a 1/4 mile drag race. N.B Muscle cars are rarely front-wheel drive vehicles. Muscle cars also tend to be the 1970-1980's model vehicles such as the Dodge Charger, Mustangs etc. All these factors are what actually make a muscle car!
