It's easy to be a back-seat driver or a Monday morning quarterback, saying I would have done this or I would have done that. We all have our own ideas on how things could have been done better than the other fellow did it.
It appears there are some Americans who feel that we have a President that is totally void of any brain cells whatsoever. Of course, no matter what decision he makes, there will always be those who are ready to criticize and tell us what they would do differently.
As, a matter of fact, there are many out there now who hope to take over George W. Bush's job in 2008. They are telling us how things will be different if they are elected as the 44th President of the United States.
So, I thought that it would be fun to just sit back and contemplate on the things that I would do if I were the President at this moment in time. What would I do differently? What policies would I implement? The following are the top five things I would do if I were President of the United States.
#1 - Turn the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan over to our military leaders. It appears as if these wars are now being fought more in Washington, D.C. and public opinion polls than they are on the battleground. I would meet with the leaders of every branch of our military and ask them what they need in order to bring a swift and decisive victory. I would want our military to take more of an offensive approach. Attack the enemy relentlessly, do whatever is necessary to destroy them so that peace can be restored as quickly as possible.
#2 - I would secure our borders with our military and order law enforcement throughout this country to arrest, detain, and prepare to deport any illegal immigrants found in this country. Any local government, city or state, that refused to follow through with this, or decided to become a "place of refuge" for illegal immigrants, would no longer receive any funds from the federal government.
I would also increase staffing for Immigration and Naturalization Services to help deport illegals, bring charges against those who knowingly smuggle in and hire illegals, and to help speed up the process for those who want to come to this country legally.
#3 - I would dissolve the Department of Education, and place the responsibility of educating America's children in the hands of the local Boards of Education. I believe that local communities can give our children a better education than they are getting with the federal bureaucracy we have now. Let the local schools
