Tips for choosing shoes to go with your prom dress

Prom night shoes.

For a young girl, that prom night should be a time to remember for the rest of her life. The trouble taken to get the right dress should be complimented with suitable shoes. Wrong choices really can make a difference to the prom night experience, when a young lady is presenting herself and wants to feel special.

Shoe shops.

When visiting shoe shops, do have an idea of the height of shoe that you want. The styles will be there to choose at the shop, though knowing the height you need to go with that special gown is a must. You may also care to take the dress to match color, although knowing the shade, choosing complimentary shoes is relatively easy. Talk to the assistants who will be accustomed to catering for proms, as well as listening to that inner voice that tells you that heels are great. They aren't always great and can cause distress if chosen wrongly on a spur of the moment decision.

Comfort

Comfort really does matter. You want to present yourself as a confident young lady, and how can you do this if you choose a pair of shoes that makes you limp around looking silly. Comfort matters because you have a whole evening of standing up in those shoes, and there are fashionable and suitable styles that will cater for comfort as well as looking great.

Width fitting

Don't be scared to ask about having your feet measured for width. The range available in wider or narrower fitting shoes is still vast and can make a whole lot of difference to the comfort factor.

Color

Classical colors that compliment the dress are great. Remember, it is the dress that people will notice and choosing colors that attract the eye to the feet don't add to the look so avoid colors that are garish.

Style

Try heels, walk in them and if you find it difficult in the five minutes in the shop, then they certainly won't be a wise choice. Instead, try the same height but in platform or wedge styles to get foot support and add to your confidence. A simple style works well with classic dresses.

When you find that special pair of Cinderella shoes that will take you to the ball, if you follow the codes of comfort, ability to walk, and style, what you end up with is a great combination to look your best.

Girls that dress up want to look confident and bring out their femininity. You cannot do this if your shoes hurt. With the right shoes and a clutch purse to match, you can step out in style, with pretty feet that can dance all night, and still leave you looking confident and relaxed all through that magical evening that makes your prom.
