Getting rid of spyware

I printed the recommendations from the Viruses and Security Alerts Forum from cnet.com about one year ago. I have been using some of these programs for the past year and they work well.

Antispyware:
It is recommended that you download 2 programs to fight spyware. Spybot Search & Destroy and SpywareBlaster. Keep them updated and run the Spybot Search & Destroy regularly. Sypware Blaster will just immunise. Both of these programs are free and I believe they both can be found at www.download.com. Another antispyware program that is currently in beta, is available at http://www.microsoft.com/athom e/security/sypware/software/de fault.mspx

Antiadware:
Download the free Ad-Aware SE personal program at http://www.lavasoftusa.com (if in US). Keep the program updated and run a scan regularly. In my notes I also have written http://www.lavasoft.de

Antiviru s:
Go to http://www.grisoft.com and download their free AVG7. Keep the virus definitions updated and scan regularly. Also, can go to www.housecall.com to do a free virus check on your computer, which is a good idea. It is a good idea to run another program on occasion along with one that is installed on your computer.

Firewall:
Go to http://www.zonelabs.com and download their free Zonealarm firewall. It will automatically update itself, which I find to be a very nice feature.
