How to fund college if you're not rich

Few could afford to go to college if they had to come up with the funds on their own. This is because most people aren't rich and don't have $100,000 sitting around just for education. If you aren't rich, don't worry, you can still find funding for college. Here are some of your options:

1. Scholarships: If you have access to any scholarship funds, consider yourself lucky. If not, go find some! Scholarships are available for anyone willing to work hard for them- enter an essay contest, send out applications to any scholarship fund you meet requirements for and be diligent. Chances are, you can find some scholarship money.

2. Student loans. It is a rare person that graduates from college without some student loans these days. Don't be afraid of this kind of debt. You won't have to pay it back until after college and finding a job. Also, the interest rate is low, interest paid is tax-deductible and you can easily defer these loans if you need to in the future.

3. Live at Home. If you have the option to continue living at home with your parents for free, you may be able to save an average of $11,000 per year in living expenses. Consider this option as a great way to save money.

4. Community College. You may be able to complete your first two years of undergraduate work at a community college for a fraction of the cost of a four-year university.

5. Public Schools. The price of all higher education institutions is on the rise, but public schools are still a lot cheaper than private institutions.

6. Work. Don't be afraid to take a job while you are in school The money earned can help pay for your education and living expenses.
