In this rapidly changing world, it would be easy to view today's youth as a new minority group: The Internet Generation. My personal opinion is that these kids are not so much "corrupted" by technology as they are preoccupied with weighing the steady stream of information that they are constantly exposed to and immersed in.
In times when children were kept sheltered and innocent, the majority blindly accepted the path laid out for them by their parents. The advantage was a sense of direction, but the inevitable tragedy was a lack of self-awareness and true identity formation.
Kids today have access to more raw information and stimuli than any generation that came before them, which not only encourages their individuality and provides them with opportunities that were unavailable to their predecessors, but it also presents them with unique obstacles and temptations.
The youth of today have a unique opportunity to absorb a myriad of viewpoints and decide for themselves what is "good" and what is "true." As a result, they may appear to be corrupt, or lacking in direction, when they are simply in the process of searching for the right "fit" - the compass that will point us in the direction of a new world: their future!
